Netscape has two methods listed in their help pages.. both the same.

Microsoft has two work arounds.

Save Password Check not Available
http://www.microsoft.com/kb/articles/q137/3/61.htm

You can try adding Client for Microsoft Networks.

Sometimes adding Client for Micorosoft Networks in the Netoworks section of the Conntrol Panel Works.. Add it to the network components if not installed and/or change to it for the Primary Network Logon.. Changing to Client for Microsoft Networks for the Primary Network Logon has worked for me...the drawback is you must enter a name and password or click on OK when booting Windows 95.. Once you can click on Save the Password in Dial up Networking and make a good connection so the password is saved, you can go back and change the Primary Network Logon back to Windows Logon.

Or Delete the Password File

You might also have to find and then delete/rename the users password file *.pwl.. Then restart the computer. Be sure to either enter a password or press just the enter key for no passwor if/when Win 95 reboots and asks for a password. Do not just press cancel when asked for the Win95 password when booting.
