The following is meant more as an aid for tech support than as a user installation direction.
From the Windows 3.1 Program Manager you should see a Netscape Personal Edition Folder/Icon. This is obatined from the 3 diskette Windows 3.1 Netscape package that Neosoft is licensed to distribute. This is what Neosoft now sends out to all new users with Windows 3.1 requesting software.
Clicking on the Netscape Personal Edition Icon will give you the folowing window and options.
The user should click on the NeoSoft Dialer first to connect to the net. Clicking on Netscape will not reliably dial and connect to the net.
The user will have to put in their User/login name and password and then click on Dial to start the dialing into Neosoft.
Clicking on Properties will give the following screen.

Clicking on Manually login will bring up a post terminal dial screen that can be useful for diagnostics:checking the password and connection.. Occasionaly there have been users who could only connect to Neosoft by using Manually login in then entering their login name and password when asked and then clicking on Continue..

This where alot of Netscape users problems in connecting can be solved or told how to solve it..
Clicking on Change Modem will start up a good modem detetection program that should find their modem..
Clicking on Advanced lets you check/select the IRQ and the I/O address for the modem and nothing else... NOTE: there is no place to enter an init string for the modem other than with the phone number..

If it does not find their modem, it most likely because of one of the following reasons: too slow (tip off is modem is 4 or more years old); or the modem is incorrectly setup( tipoff is modem is not on com1 or com2 and/or the modem's interrupt is shared with something else like the mouse).
Sometimes a good connection is obtained by selecting a different modem setup.. Either Hayes compatible or other Windows Modem are good ones to try.. If the modem had a software installation, try the other Windows modem.. When in doubt, try Hayes compatible..
